he was the kid helping other kids — a decade before any qualification made it official.

▪// BEAT 01 — THE STRUGGLE

My journey into counseling began in Year 7 as an international school student. Like many teenagers, I faced significant mental health challenges. It was a turbulent time where I felt lost and misunderstood.

I found my lifeline in Drama, Music, and Peer Counseling. These weren't just activities; they were safe harbours. I met mentors who offered unconditional support, but I also experienced betrayal and criticism from others who dismissed me as "incompetent."

▪// BEAT 02 — THE CRUCIBLE

International Social Services

My time at ISS (Hong Kong Branch) was a defining chapter. I worked directly with non-refoulement claimants (refugees), witnessing raw human suffering—fear, danger, and the struggle for survival without a safety net.

This experience was a masterclass in cultural humility. I learned to navigate diverse values on family, politics, and the future, understanding how trauma manifests differently across cultures. It deepened my capacity to sit with pain and offer stability in the midst of chaos.

But I also faced a harsh reality: paperwork was drowning us. Administrative burdens consumed hours that should have been spent with clients. I made a choice—to learn technology not for its own sake, but to reclaim the space and energy my clients deserved. Every system I built, every hour automated, was an hour returned to human connection.

▪// BEAT 03 — THE COUNSELLOR

That duality—being both held and hurt—stayed with me. It followed me through university where I studied Psychology, then into my postgraduate training in Guidance and Counselling. Each step was an attempt to understand what I had lived through, and to become someone who could offer what I once desperately needed.

My skill was born from humility. My goal is to lead with empathy.

FIELD RECORD — UNIVERSITY YEARS

One of three students and the only male candidate selected to receive an internship offer from the Hong Kong Kun Sun Association (KSA) in the visit to Shek Pik Prison.

"That pain became my purpose. The experience of being both supported and judged shaped my worldview. It fueled a deep, burning desire to understand people—to be the empathetic adult I needed when I was younger. Years later, when I walked into ISS to work with refugees, I finally understood why."

NOTE 03 — PRESENCE OVER PAPERWORK

Presence Over Paperwork

30+ hours freed weekly — returned to human connection.

▪CH. 02 § PHILOSOPHY

Person-Centered & Empathetic

My practice is built on Person-Centered Therapy. I believe in aligning my core values with my life experiences to offer authentic support.

PRINCIPLE 01

Unconditional Positive Regard

Creating a judgment-free zone is the foundation of all growth. Regardless of a student's actions or struggles, I offer acceptance and care. This safety allows them to lower their defenses and truly explore who they are.

PRINCIPLE 02

Hyper-Empathy

My past allows me to feel deeply with others. This is my superpower, enabling profound emotional connection.

PRINCIPLE 03

Value Alignment

Helping students navigate their moral compass to make authentic, fulfilling life choices.

▪CH. 02 § WHY — CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE

My lifelong passion for psychology stems from a genuine interest in helping others. Past roles in counselling, tutoring & working with children have honed my patience, cultural awareness, and ability to build rapport.

Connecting with people on an individual level to make a difference drives me above all else.
